6406 Series Inserters: Advanced Flexibility and Efficiency for High-Volume Document Handling
The 6406 Series Inserters are designed for maximum versatility, offering 2 to 6 stations with a wide range of input configurations. Options include a high-capacity document feeder (up to 725 sheets), one or two production-grade feeders, standard and special feeders, and short feed trays—ideal for a variety of mailing applications.
Built for ease of use and high productivity, the 6406 features a 7” full-color touchscreen with an intuitive graphical interface, along with automatic paper and envelope presence sensors. A vertical output stacker holds up to 500 completed envelopes, while the top-loading envelope hopper—holding up to 325 envelopes—can be refilled without pausing operation. With AutoSet™, operators can simply load materials and let the inserter automatically adjust all settings. Up to 50 jobs can be stored for quick setup and consistent performance.
The system’s powerful folding capabilities handle up to 10 sheets in a half-fold or 8 sheets in a tri-fold. Cascade Mode enables continuous operation by linking feeders—when one empties, another takes over seamlessly.
To ensure accuracy and prevent misfeeds, double document detectors are located at every feeder and at the insertion point. These electromechanical sensors operate reliably with all paper types, colors, and thicknesses—even in dusty environments. Documents flagged for inspection are automatically routed to a divert station for review.
Energy-efficient by design, the 6406 enters standby mode after 1 hour of inactivity to help conserve power.
An optional CIS scanner expands functionality by reading OMR, 1D/2D barcodes, QR codes, and OCR data from anywhere on the page. This enables automatic collation and insertion of multi-page documents—eliminating the need for manual processing.
